Workplace sexual harassment—an unavoidable topic. Many think it happens because someone dressed provocatively or was too attractive. Wrong.

The real reason: you look “weak.”

1. Who Are the Harassers?

Psychologists once surveyed men: “If no consequences, would you rape?” About two-thirds said yes.

We may be more primitive than we think.

Workplace harassers share traits:

· Inflated self-opinion
· View women as tools, inferior
· Interpret resistance as shyness or game
· Believe power trumps rules

They’re not sex-obsessed—they’re power-obsessed. Rejection triggers not shame, but anger and revenge.

So once you decide to resist, prepare for battle.

2. Who Gets Targeted?

Harassers pick those with low “power value”:

· Newcomers
· Outsiders (not local)
· No connections or backing
· Their own subordinates
· Poor family background
· Thin, introverted, soft-spoken

A 1990s study: local thugs harassed migrant factory girls because “they wouldn’t dare touch local girls.”

So women buying expensive bags or cars isn’t just showing off—it’s signaling “don’t mess with me.”

Workplace harassers are mostly amateurs—bullies who back down when you stand firm.

3. How to Fight Back

Step one: Gather evidence. Chats, emails, recordings.

Step two: Find the harasser’s enemies. Rivals wanting his job won’t miss a chance—give them evidence.

Step three: If leadership investigates, harasser gets fired—game over. If they cover up, you can negotiate—transfer him, or get a better position yourself.

Step four: Online exposure last. Remember: a drawn arrow is more powerful than a released one.

4. What About Leaders?

Every leader’s motto: less trouble, better.

Harassers are often senior, more valuable to the company. So leaders cover up, even trade favors: “See? I handled it. How will you thank me?”

Company interests demand zero tolerance; a department head’s interests may differ. That’s the “interest seam.”

Want leaders to act? Involve the harasser’s rivals—they’ll keep leaders honest.

5. And the Law?

Unless it’s assault or rape, don’t expect much from courts. Evidence is hard, compensation small. Experts hope companies will build their own oversight.

For most harassers, the real cost is—losing their job.

6. A Final Story

King Zhuang of Chu once feasted. The lamp went out; someone groped his favorite concubine. She snapped off the man’s helmet tassel, asked the king to light up. The king paused, then ordered everyone to snap their tassels before relighting. He let the man go.

Later, a soldier fought desperately to save the king. Asked why, he said: “I’m the one whose tassel you spared.”

一、骚扰者是谁?

心理学家做过调查:问一群男性,如果没有后果,你会强奸吗?大约三分之二的人选了“会”。

我们可能比自己想象的要野蛮。

职场性骚扰者,几乎都有这几个特征:

· 谜之自信,对自己评价过高;
· 把女性当工具,视作低人一等;
· 把反抗当害羞,当游戏;
· 相信权力能凌驾规则。

他们不是性欲过剩,是权力欲过剩。被拒绝后不会羞愧,只会愤怒、报复。

所以,一旦决定拒绝,就要准备迎战。

二、谁容易被盯上?

骚扰者挑猎物,专找“权力值低”的人:

· 职场新人
· 外地人
· 没背景、没门路
· 自己的下属
· 家境不好
· 瘦弱、内向、声音小

1990年代社科院调研:工厂里本地小流氓专骚扰打工妹,因为“惹不起本地女孩”。

所以,女性买贵包、开好车,不全是为了攀比——那是给自己贴个价签,让骚扰者掂量掂量。

职场性骚扰者,大多是业余流氓,欺软怕硬。你看起来不好惹,他就怂了。

三、怎么应对?

第一步,收集证据。聊天记录、邮件、录音,都留着。

第二步,找骚扰者的敌人。他的平级竞争者、想上位的人,不会错过这个机会。把证据发给他们,让他们帮你盯着。

第三步,如果公司领导愿意查,骚扰者丢工作,游戏结束。如果领导想捂盖子,你可以选择交易——调离骚扰者,或换到自己想要的岗位。

第四步,最后才是网络曝光。记住八个字:引而不发,悬而不决。箭射出去,弓就没威力了。

四、领导怎么想?

天下领导都有一块金字招牌:多一事不如少一事。

性骚扰者往往职级更高,对公司价值更大。所以很多领导选择捂盖子,甚至拿这事卖人情:“你看,我帮你摆平了,怎么谢我?”

公司的利益是对性骚扰零容忍,但部门领导的利益可能正好相反。这就是“利益分水岭”。

想让领导不敢捂盖子?让骚扰者的敌人参与进来——他们盯着,领导就不好办。

五、司法呢?

除非猥亵、性侵,别指望法院。取证难,赔偿少。法学界真正期待的,是企业内部建立有效的监督机制。

对普通骚扰者,最大的代价就是——丢工作。

六、最后的故事

楚庄王喝酒,灯灭了,有人趁机调戏他的爱妃。妃子折下那人的盔缨,让楚王点灯。楚王想了一下,让所有人都折下盔缨,再点灯。放过了那个人。
